Karnataka PU paper leak: Two PT teachers held

PU leak: Both earned Rs 5-6 lakh; one of them honoured as best teacher.

Bengaluru: The CID officials investigating the second PU Chemistry question paper leak arrested two more teachers on Wednesday, bringing the total number of arrests to five. More arrests that will follow, said an investigating officer.

The arrested are Anil Kumar H.K., a resident of Malleswaram and a physical education teacher at Poornaprajna Pre-University College in Sadhashivanagar, and Satish, a resident of Mathikere and a PT teacher at a government high school in Palace Guttahalli. Both are in their thirties and were in touch with Manjunath.

Ironically, Anil Kumar was awarded the ‘Bangalore North District Best Teacher of the year 2015-16’ in September last year.

While Sathish knew Manjunath for a long time, Anil seemed to have gotten in touch with him only recently, investigating officers said. The two teachers were involved with the other accused people in illegally procuring the Chemistry question paper and selling it for profit, a senior official said.

“This is the first time these two teachers have been arrested. there are no previous cases registered against them,” the officer said. The teachers sold the question papers at different places depending on the demand from students and parents, in the last 12 hours before the exam commenced, the officer said.

The CID officials have frozen their bank accounts, into which the illegal money was being deposited. The two had made Rs 5-6 lakh. Majority of the transactions in these accounts occurred on March 20, the night before the news broke out that the question paper had been leaked.
