Three killed as truck smashes car in Medak district

Hyderabad: Three Shirdi-bound pilgrims were killed and two others were injured seriously when their car collided with a truck at Malkapuram in Medak district on Wednesday. The victims, belong to RC Puram, Medak. Police said the truck driver’s negligence led to the mishap.

Circle inspector I. Anjaneyulu said the five started their journey from Ramachandrapur town and were driving on the Hyderabad-Mumbai NH when the accident occurred. “When they reached Malkapur, a truck rammed their vehicle,” said the inspector.

The car’s front was heavily damaged and the victims got trapped inside. Two people who were sitting in the front died on the spot. Another person died while the rescue was going on, police said.

“The victims are N. Venkatesh, N. Shekhar and P. Kumar,” said a police official. The group was going to the Saibaba temple in Shirdi and had planned to return before Dussera. Police registered a case. The truck driver was arrested by the police.
