Hyderabad: Aides of Ayub and Nayeem detained

Police used the geo tagging technology to trace the offenders in the area, thereby not disturbing the common public during the operation.

Hyderabad: With an aim to track notorious gangster Auyb’s activities and his men in the Old city area, South Zone police conducted a cordon and search operation on Thursday morning in areas under Chatrinaka, Chandrayanagutta and Falaknuma police stations and detained eight associates of Ayub and one associate of slain gangster Nayeem. More than 30 other offenders involved in different offences in the past were also arrested.

Police used the geo tagging technology to trace the offenders in the area, thereby not disturbing the common public during the operation.

During the operation, Ayub’s associates Ubaid, Ashwaq, Mohammed Qureshi who played major role in his gang and five others were detained. Nayeem’s associate Border Yousuf was also detained. DCP South Zone V Satyanarayana said that they are questioning the associates of both gangsters on their roles in detail in Old city area and surroundings.

“We have found out almost all the offences involving Ayub but with the information from them we hope to crack more details. Though an SIT is probing Nayeem’s case, we are also keeping a close watch on his connections in this area.” the DCP said.

During the operation conducted with the help of GPS enabled devices, 29 rowdies and 14 suspects involved in heinous crimes such as murder for gain and property offences were located.

Three daggers were found, 16 vehicles without proper documents were also detained the DCP said.

Using the geo tagging facility, any officer carrying the GPS enabled device can track the offenders within 500 metres radius. A total of over 200 personnel from different wings of South Zone participated in the operation.
