Bengaluru: Four injured as two BMTC buses collide

Of the 40 passengers in both buses, only four people, including the BMTC bus drivers, sustained injuries, said the traffic police.

BENGALURU: It was a narrow escape for the passengers of two Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses on Monday morning after the buses collided head-on near Nagawara Junction in Banaswadi traffic police limits.
Of the 40 passengers in both buses, only four people, including the BMTC bus drivers, sustained injuries, said the traffic police.

The accident took place around 7.30 am when one bus which was going to Yelahanka from Shivajinagar and the other coming from Ramamurthynagar to Hebbal collided.

Traffic on the busy Hebbal-Nagawara Road was disrupted for over an hour following the accident, while the traffic police tried to move the buses to the side of the road. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Both the drivers, who have been admitted in the hospital, are said to be out of danger.

“One side of one of the buses is completely damaged. It was indeed a lucky escape for the passengers,” said a senior official from the Hebbal traffic police station. A case has been registered.
