Warangal Urban: Two youths were arrested by the Kamalapur police after Intermediate student Shivarathri Shivani, 17, hanged herself to death on Tuesday. Localaveni Ganesh and Kanukula Srikanth were arrested after the girl’s family alleged that they had been harassing her.

Shivani, who lived with her parents Venkanna and Komuramma in Desarajupalli village, was studying Intermediate second year at the Kamalapur government junior college. She complained to her parents about the harassment by Srikanth who kept stalking her. Following this, the family warned him.

Shivani’s brother Kumaraswamy went to Kamalapur on October 30 along with elders and asked Srikanth to stay away from his sister.

“My sister told us that the boy and his friends used to misbehave with her. We warned him that we will complain to the police. But he continued harassing her and drove her to death,” he said.

Srikanth and his friends met Shivani again on Monday and threatened that they would kill her and her brother if she does not accept his proposal. Unable to bear the torture she hanged herself on Tuesday.
