Hyderabad: Suspicious blast at Ibrahimpatnam, 2 injured

The local police has started an investigation into the matter.

Hyderabad: A day after a person was injured in a low intensity blast at Ibrahimpatnam, another suspicious blast occurred in the same area creating panic.

Two persons, including a woman, suffered minor injuries in the blast that occurred on Sunday afternoon. Although the police believes that a gelatin stick abandoned by some locals who wanted to frighten wild animals caused the blast, two blasts on consecutive days have created suspicion and panic among people in the area.

Locals said the blast took place at around 2.50 pm when some local people were passing by a muddy area. The explosive was hidden in the mud and exploded when the victim accidentally stepped on it.

“The explosive might be gelatin which was buried in the mud. Local people here use that kind of explosives to frighten wild boars,” said Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat.

A Clues team with forensic experts and a bomb disposal squad were rushed to the spot where the explosion took place. The local police has started an investigation into the matter.

Late in the evening on Saturday a person was injured in the same area when a kerosene container kept near a jalebi shop exploded.
