The deceased has been identified as Manjula (47), a resident of Basaveshwaranagar.

BENGALURU: A fight between a husband and wife led to the murder of latter’s mother in Kebbahalli near Sunkadakatte in Kamakshipalya police station limits on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Manjula (47), a resident of Basaveshwaranagar. Her son-in-law Nagaraj Nayak is absconding after the incident.

According to the police, Nayak, who works in a private company, got married to Manjula’s daughter Sumalatha about five years ago and the couple has a son. From the last few months, Nayak was suspecting his wife’s fidelity and used to frequently quarrel with her. On Tuesday morning also, he picked up a quarrel over the same issue.

“After learning about the incident, Manjula rushed to the couple’s house and she got into a heated argument with Nayak, supporting her daughter. An enraged Nayak pushed her aside and tried to stab his wife with a knife. In a bid to save her daughter, Manjula came in between and she got stabbed in her abdomen. As she fell unconscious, Nayak locked the main door from outside and escaped. Hearing Sumalatha’s screams, neighbours opened the door in a while. Manjula was immediately rushed to a hospital, but she succumbed on the way,” the police said. Based on the complaint filed by Sumalatha, the Kamakshipalya police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
