Karnataka Second PU question paper leak repeat of 2013

CID chargesheet says 2016 & 2013 papers leaked from same office.

BENGALURU: The CID chargesheet filed recently in connection with the Second PU question paper leak case has revealed that the Biology question paper of 2013 Second PU exam was leaked from the same Sub-Treasury office in Hanagal taluk of Haveri district, from where all the question papers of this year were leaked.

In addition, the same Second Division Assistant (SDA), Santosh Parashuram Agasimani, who leaked the papers this year, supplied the Biology paper to the kingpin in 2013. Sources in the CID said that the Tumakuru New Extension police, despite arresting the kingpin Shivakumaraiah in 2013, were not able to find out the origin of the leak.

“The Tumakuru police had arrested one, Mallesh, near a bar a day before the exam. Based on his information, they had also arrested kingpin Shivakumaraiah and others. Though he was in police custody for 15 days, he had not revealed from where he had got the question paper. The police also filed a chargesheet in a hurry, mentioning that there was no specific information regarding from where the accused procured the question paper,” an official said.

But, the questioning of Agasimani has revealed that he was the one who leaked the Biology question paper in 2013 and all the question papers this year. “He has confessed that he helped Shivakumaraiah to get the Biology question paper in 2013 and he leaked it from the Hanagal Sub Treasury office. He provided a copy of the question paper to Shivakumaraiah, who got the photocopy of it and then the original paper was kept back. Later, Shivakumariah had circulated it through his associates. Agasimani has also made this statement before the judge. We would ask the Tumakuru police to file an additional chargesheet based on his statement,” the official added.

The CID sleuths have included these details in the chargesheet, which has the statements of 295 witnesses. “It has also come to our notice that Agasimani was transferred from Hanagal Sub Treasury office to Haveri Treasury Office. With an intention to help Shivakumaraiah again this year, he managed to get posted back to Hanagal Sub Treasury for a month on OOD from March 1 to 30. He was paid '5 lakh by Shivakumaraiah to leak all the question papers,” the official said.
