Bengaluru: ACB raids 7 government officials, seizes crores

The search operations were simultaneously launched on Tuesday morning at several places and continued till late evening.

Bengaluru: The sleuths of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted simultaneous raids on the offices and residences of seven government officials across the state on Tuesday. Disproportionate assets worth several crores were unearthed during the raids.

Details of the raid:
Kariyappa Ningappa Karnal - Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Tax (Enforcement), Hubballi Division: His office, residence in Vishveshwaraiah Nagar in Hubballi and his friend Niranjan Hiremath’s house on PB Road were raided.
Immovable assets - A 10,000 sq.ft. land in Yashwantpur in Bengaluru purchased jointly with his brother Girish Shankar, a duplex house worth Rs 1 crore in Nehru Nagar in his children’s name, a flat in Hesaraghatta in Bengaluru, two flats in Thimmasandra in Hubballi, two sites of 30*40 dimension in Manjunathanagar, 20 acre land in Koliwada, four acre land in Navalagunda taluk.
Cash: Rs 1.35 lakh seized from office, Rs 6.94 lakh seized from residence, Rs 5.5 lakh bank deposit in son’s name.
Others - Honda Amaze car worth Rs 12 lakh, a two-wheeler.

K.T. Nagaraju - Chief Engineer, Central Project, BBMP: His office, residence in Jayanagar 4th block, his brother-in-law Rajeev’s house in Sakaleshapura in Hassan, friend Nagesh’s house in Sakaleshapura were raided.
Immovable assets - 40 acre coffee estate in his wife M.B. Roopa’s name in Belur taluk in Hassan, 3,240 sq.ft site in Rajeev’s name at Kudure village, Dasanapura hobli, Bengaluru North Taluk, 72 acre coffee estate purchased for Rs 5 crore in friend Hardik Gowda and brother Chandrappa Gowda’s name in Sakaleshapura, five guntas of land purchased for Rs. Five lakh in Seegehalli in K.R. Pura, 27 acre coffee estate purchased for Rs 50 lakh in wife’s name in Belur, a flat worth Rs 35 lakh purchased in Jaya Gardenia apartment at Kaverinagar in Nagawara in 2009, a commercial complex purchased for Rs 25 lakh in Hootagalli in Mysuru, a 40 by 60 site and residential building in Jayanagar purchased and constructed 20 years ago and worth Rs 20 lakh then, an 80 by 50 site in Dollars Layout in J P Nagar worth Rs 2 crore, a site in Jaala hobli worth Rs 13 lakh, 30 guntas land in Magadi taluk, a site worth Rs 3.91 lakh in Sakaleshapura.
Cash & Gold - Rs. 7.32 lakh cash seized from his residence, 800 gram gold, a diamond ring, six kg of silver.

Saleem Sadhu Saab Syed - Deputy Tahsildar, Hirebagewadi, Belagavi district: His house in Belagavi city, office, and his son-in-law’s house in Balekundri were searched.
Immovable property - A BUDA site measuring 60 by 40 in Ramathirthanagar purchased for Rs 1.5 lakh, the current house they live in is worth Rs 40 lakh, a commercial building worth Rs 30 lakh.
Cash & Gold - 380 grams of gold, Rs. 10,000 cash at home, Rs 5 lakh FD, Rs 2 lakh bank balance. Rs 50,000 in cash, 230 grams gold and 200 gram silver found at son-in-law’s house.

Karunakar M. B - Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector, Chitradurga: His office, rented house in Chitradurga, residence in Shivamogga were raided.
Immovable assets - 13 acres ancestral property in Tarikere, 1.30 acre land worth Rs. 18 lakh in Tarikere, eight gunta land in Mandanahalli, five acre land worth Rs 50 lakh in Tarikere, three sites worth Rs 24 lakh, a house worth Rs. 80 lakh in Vinobanagar in Shivamogga, a flat in Mangaluru, a flat at an apartment in MLA Layout on Bannerghatta Road.
Cash & Gold – Rs 5 lakh in mutual funds, 250 grams gold and three kg silver.

P.D. Kumar - Executive Engineer, Banashankari BDA office: His three properties in J. P. Nagar and office were raided.
Immovable assets - A house in JP Nagar worth Rs 2 crore, a flat in HSR Layout, a house at Sarakki Signal in JP Nagar, four acre land in Harapanahalli in Davanagere
Cash & Gold - Rs 2.30 lakh cash found at his residence, Rs 12 lakh worth gold jewels, Rs 2.5 lakh silver articles, Rs 3 lakh worth diamond jewels.

Jagannath - Executive Officer, Taluk Panchayat Office, Aurad, Bidar district: Immovable assets - Two houses in Brahmapura Colony in Bidar, 16 acre land in Humnabad taluk.
Cash & Gold - 400 gram gold, 74 gram silver and Rs. 20,000 in cash.

Shivakumar Dollina - Panchayat Development Officer, Gadag district:
Three houses, three sites at Hirehaala, 16 acre land in Rona and Mundargi taluks, 2.32 acre land in Rona given to his sister as gift.

Officer's wife has 5,000 sarees!
The anti-corruption bureau sleuths found more than five thousand sarees and properties worth crores of rupees during a raid at the residence of Kariyappa Karnal, the assistant commissioner of commercial tax department at Vishweshwar Nagar here on Tuesday. The officials had to spend the whole day counting all the sarees belonging to his wife and unaccounted wealth and estimated that his asset much higher than his known source of income. These sarees found at the house has shocked the police though the wife of the officer has no income. The officials claimed the price of each saree is from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.
