Women get hailed as heroes on the Internet after saving stranger from date rape

The culprit has now been arrested after CCTV footage evidence corrobrated their claims.

Three women have won praise by thousands of people online after helping to prevent a date rape at a restaurant in California. A Facebook post by one of them that described how the trio spotted a man spiking his female companion’s drink and took prompt action quickly went viral and was shared by thousands of users.

The post, which was written by Sonia Ulrich, wrote how she and her friends – Monica Kenyon and Marla Saltzer – were shocked when they saw a man secretly slip a substance into a girl’s drink while she was in the bathroom. After they followed the girl in the bathroom and told her about what they saw, they were even more appalled when they learnt that the guy wasn’t some random date but actually one of the woman’s ‘best friends’.

With the help of the restaurant’s management staff, the women were able to get the man arrested after captured CCTV footage proved that he had indeed spiked his friend’s drink. Ulrich also mentioned that after he was taken away by the police, other customers thanked them for their noble deed before sharing chilling stories about having been close to sexual assault themselves.
