Hayley Booth pays a special tribute to her ex-husband's new wife in a Facebook post that has gone viral.
To her young daughter, this person is known as “bonus mommy". In her post, Booth talks about peacefully co-parenting with the new lady in her daughter's life, who has come to be very important to both of them. "We all love her, and nothing will ever change that," Booth writes in the post.
"My daughter calls her bonus mommy 'Mommy'.. and you know what? That's okay, because that's what she is to her, she IS her mommy," she adds. Adding, "I would never tell my daughter she can't call her bonus mommy 'mommy' because it would hurt her deeply."
Booth goes on to describe all the things this woman does for her daughter from playing with her to kissing her goodnight and most importantly doing "everything any mother would do".
Booth also said her daughter is not the only one who loves her bonus mommy, "I love her too. She's become one of my best friends and I rely on her for many things. She is one of the strongest people I know, and I am thankful for her everyday," Booth said.
She calls out those who protest the new individual in their children’s life and deems them to be "selfish".
"If you are lucky enough for your ex to have a woman who loves YOUR child or children like their own, and one who helps raise them and shape them, why would you not allow them to call a woman they love mommy?," she asks.
She encourages those she questions to put the petty things aside and put the child ahead of all that because she believes peaceful co-parenting is possible.
