KOZHIKODE: Kozhikode will be one of the 16 hosts to conduct the World Quizzing Championship (WQC), organized by the London-based International Quizzing Association (IQA). The event will be held at Malabar Christian College here at 3.30 p.m. on June 4 to determine the official world rankings of quizzers.
“Known for being the biggest pilgrimage of quizzers in India, it consists of three days of nonstop quizzing,” said Snehaj Srinivas, director (Kerala) of IQA. Quizzes falling under a wide spectrum of topics will be held, ranging from science, sports, Kerala, India and Malayalam movies, for different categories like school, college, women and general public, he added.
“This is a championship that determines the world champion in the game of quizzing,” Snehaj said. The event will take place in around 16 venues in India & only one venue in Kerala. As many as 240 questions will have to be answered in two hours by the participants.
In addition to the state winner, there will be awards for winners from schools, colleges and for exclusive women’s category. For this edition of championship, there will be several quiz masters, including District Collector N. Prasanth, Jeevan Babu, Dr.Adeela Abdulla, Dr. Alby John (IAS officials), Remya Roshni, IPS, and P.T. Arun IPOS along with eminent quizzards of Kerala like A.R. Ranjith, Rajesh Mohanan, Dr.T.V. Sulaiman, Snehaj Srinivas, Biju Narayanan and T.V. Sulyab.
The championship will be held on the first day of the three-day annual quiz festival, Reverberate. The 10th edition of Reverberate will have 12 quizzing events on June 4, 5 and 6. The event is organized in the city with the joint collaboration of Quiz Kerala along with district administration. Registrations will be open till June 2.
