Mumbaikar sips chai while sitting on rubble to call out BMC

The Bandra resident had made several attempts to tell the authorities about the inconvenience but they didn't pay heed

Dealing with people in authority often gets very difficult for people and they eventually give up on the issue they wanted to solve. A Mumbai resident however decided to take a different route and get the attention of the local municipal corporation when she posted a photo on social media to protest.

According to a media report, Bandra resident Genesia Alves decided to take matters into her hands after she had asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to clear the pile of rubble in front of her house but they did not pay heed. Alves along with her 16-year-old daughter decided to replicate an iconic photograph from World War II by sitting on top of the rubble on St. Paul’s Road.

Genesia, a freelance journalist, borrowed a pink dress from her daughter and got hold of a mug before she tied her hair in a turban to create an exact imitation of the photo. The mother-daughter duo posted the photo on Twitter and sneaked out before the workers came in.
