Man celebrates divorce by distributing 50 kg 'kaju barfi' in Gujarat

He described his one year marriage as torture and said that divorce was a sweet reward after a two year legal battle.

Rajkot: Weddings in India are a big deal as extravagant celebrations lasting for days and exotic food mark the much celebrated union of two people which is considered a sacred bond. But it seems that while Indians like to show their pleasure over two people coming together, some also find pleasure in bad news.

Divorce may not be the best thing to happen to a couple, but for a man in Gujarat it seems to be more of a reason to rejoice than the marriage itself. Rinkesh Rachchh from Rajkot had a totally surprising reaction to the end of his marriage as he went on to distribute 50 kgs of kaju barfi.

The packet read “Chutacheda Harakh Na” which means “to celebrate divorce” and had names of Rinkesh’s family members as well. The 26-year-old said that divorce to him was sweet reward after one year of marriage which he described as torture, and a two year legal battle that followed.

Rinkesh said that he got calls from people to congratulate him and ask how he managed to win the legal struggle, but most calls were from mothers who wanted to share “horrible” experiences with their daughters-in-law.
