Egyptian women at number one spot in the world for beating their husbands

The wives also sometimes roofie their husbands so that blows are not met with any resistance.

If one goes by recent government statistics then Egyptian wives are certainly not the kind to be messed with. A report by the Family Law Court in the country has shown that 28 per cent of Egyptian women have/do beat their husbands – more than women from other parts of the world.

Out of these women, 66 per cent have already filed for divorce or annulment, according to Sada El Balad News. The report has also revealed details about the items used in physical violence, such as slippers, sharp weapons, belts, needles, and utensils. The wives also sometimes roofie their husbands so that blows are not met with any resistance. The same source claims that the percentage of women who physically assault their husbands is 23 per cent in the United States, 17 per cent in the U.K., and 11 per cent in India.

However, this doesn’t mean women in Egypt do not suffer physical violence on a large scale. In fact, a study by Amnesty International in 2013 showed that around 47 per cent women in Egypt have experienced domestic violence.
