Watch: Padma Lakshmi teaches Ellen DeGeneres how to cook Thayir Sadam

Thayir Sadam is a dish that is loved by every Tamilian.

Indian-born actress, chef, author and model, Padma Lakshmi is a quite popular cook and anchor for her TV show, Top Chef.

She recently appeared on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her new book Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir.

On the show she discussed about her ex-husband Salman Rushdie and some other subjects. Lakshmi also talked about the importance of food in her life.

The highlight of the show was when she thought Ellen DeGeneres how to cook Thayir Sadam, a popular yogurt rice dish. Thayir Sadam is a dish that is loved by every Tamilian.

Along with Lakshmi, DeGeneres also mixed the rice and curd with her bare hand, amusing everyone on the show.

Thayir Sadam was made was made up of all vegan ingredients for DeGeneeres.

The tadka was of green chillies, black mustard seeds, asafeotida and white lentils. Thought the host of the show loved this South Indian dish but it was too hot for her palate.

“Wow, that’s so good. And sooooo peppery, so hot! So hot!” DeGeneeres says in the video.
