A year of execution

Padma Rajagopal and Nidhi Swarup, who now head FICCI Ladies Organisation and Young FLO, tell us what a big task it is.

It’s been barely two days since the installation ceremony and businesswoman Padma Rajagopal is already neck-deep in work. “Last year was all about launches, so this year will be all about executing projects,” she says. “And I can’t wait to finish the projects we’ve worked on,” she adds.

This year Padma plans to bring in more motivational speakers but she’s not ready to reveal the names. “Though the calendars have been given out, the names aren’t mentioned. Instead, the members have to solve puzzles and the likes to get to the names of the speakers,” she says.

She adds that they have already adopted a village near Shamshabad. “We have adopted the village Muthinchal. This is in partnership with a big infrastructure company and we will be organising health camps, workshops for the women, etc.

This is a smart village and we’re going to be associated with them,” she explains.
Padma will also continue to work on the Swayam initiative, which she says started last year. “We help women with funding for their business ideas. So far, three women have been chosen. One lady received Rs 1 crore of funding, while the other two received Rs 50 lakh each.

FLO will also adopt another school this year. Adds Padma, “Since last year, we have been taking care of three schools and this year, we’ve added another one to the list. It’s going to be a busy years and I’m all geared up for it!”

The focus this year, for the YFLO ladies, is not just serious conversations, says Nidhi Swarup, who will be heading it. “It’s going to be a year of a lot of fun activities, serious talks and workshops. That way they’ll have the best of both worlds,” says Nidhi who is the Chief Financial Officer at the Swarup Eye Institution in the city.

She adds, “I have also planned the go-green initiative and this year I plan to get an architect on board who will give a talk on the various methods to make a home eco-friendly. There will be a panel discussion on this.”
