Virat Kohli is Peta’s ‘Person of the year 2019’

Virat Kohli is a fierce animal rights proponent who never hesitates to run out cruelty to animals any way he can.

Team India captain Virat Kohli has a new distinction. He has been chosen as the ‘Person of the Year for 2019’ by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India for his animal advocacy efforts.

Virat has been constantly working towards improving the conditions of animals. A statement from PETA India also states that the Indian Captain had recently also sent a letter to authorities on behalf of PETA India, calling for the release of Malti, an elephant used for rides at Amer Fort in Jaipur. Malti was reportedly violently beaten by eight men.

He visits an animal shelter in Bangalore to check on injured and formerly neglected dogs there while advocating for adopting animals rather than buying them.

“Virat Kohli is a fierce animal rights proponent who never hesitates to run out cruelty to animals any way he can. PETA India encourages everyone to follow his lead and always be an advocate for animals in need,” says Sachin Bangera, PETA India Director of Celebrity and Public Relations.
