A python was prevented from enjoying a hearty meal after villagers came to the rescue of a poor goat held captive by the reptile. The shocking incident, which occurred in the village of Bahraich, in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India, has been captured on video and gone viral on the internet.
The clip shows the predator tightly wrapped around the helpless goat while villagers surrounding them shout in despair. The goat puts on a brave fight for an astonishing 40 minutes as it tries to avoid being swallowed whole by the python.
Fortunately, a local passer-by saves the goat's life by repeatedly striking the serpent's head with a tree branch. Finally, the snake is seen slithering away into the wilderness, leaving the goat alive.
