Documaker Rupesh Kumar alleges hate campaign

Following the incident, many had declared open support for Rupesh on social media.

KOZHIKODE: Dalit documentary director Rupesh Kumar has alleged that he had become a victim of a vicious campaign on social media by pro-saffron groups. “Campaign through WhatsApp and Facebook has been that I am a ‘puppet of Islam’ and giving militant training in Pazhayangady in Kannur. A post says that I should be saved from this plight,” Rupesh Kumar told Deccan Chronicle. The false propaganda followed after Rupesh participated in a FB friends gathering in Kannur on Sunday protesting the human rights violations in Kashmir.

“A few people tried to abort the programme and we 16 protesters were arrested and later released. The vicious campaign set off after the incident in many groups based at my native place, Pazhayangady,” Rupesh elaborated. Rupesh said that a similar programme was organised in Thrissur without any hindrance. He is going to file a police complaint under SC/ST atrocities act. Following the incident, many had declared open support for Rupesh on social media.
