Rajasthan ATM gives out Rs 70,000 to man who requested for Rs 3500

Reportedly by the time the ATM was shut down, it had already dispensed around Rs 6.76 lakh.

You might’ve have heard about how the demonetisation of high value bank notes in India has led many people to stand in seemingly never-ending queues outside poorly stocked ATMs. But a money vending machine in Rajasthan exceeded all expectations of one lucky man who received way more cash than he asked for.

Jitesh Diwakar, a resident of Tonk, had gone to withdraw Rs 3500 but discovered that the machine had spewed a whopping Rs 70,000. He later informed the local Bank of Baroda manager about the malfunction. Reportedly by the time the ATM was shut down, it had already dispensed around Rs 6.76 lakh.

Media reports say that it is being speculated that the ATM glitch happened because of a mix-up in the money slots. In other words, the Rs 2000 notes ended up loading in the slots instead of Rs 100.
