Lima: Natural calamities across the world make news for the devastation of life and property, but at times hope surfaces through the destruction with miraculous survival stories that signify the courage and will power associated with the human spirit.

Weeks of rainfall in Peru have caused several floods and mudslides that have killed 67 people, but the footage showing a 32-year-old woman fighting her way out of a mudslide, that swept away everything from houses to animals, is nothing short of inspiring.

The woman named Evangelina Chamorro Diaz was caught in a whirlpool, but survived with minor injuries. The footage has gone viral as people praised the woman all over the world.
