Though their school letter never arrived by owl, several students from the the University College of Engineering, Osmania University, experienced the wizarding world of Harry Potter on their campus over the weekend. The event, Amusant 2017, saw students participate in Grand Wizard Treasure Hunt, Scary Maze, Harry Potter Quiz and several other cultural and spot events to raise funds for charity.
One of the
Gayatri, Ranjima and Shilpi. organisers, Veera Reddy, a 3rd year Bachelor of Engineering student, says, “We have been organising this event since 2015. While we had Halloween and superheroes as the theme in the past, we decided to go with Harry Potter this year. We raised over Rs 45,000, which will be donated to an orphanage or old age home after our exams.” The event was truly spell-binding and was attended by excited Harry Potter fans from colleges across the city. “While we were thinking about Game of Thrones and Harry Potter, majority of the students voted for the latter,” says Bryan Rowland, a 3rd year Computer Science and Engineering student.
“There were owl posts, a Quidditch pong and photo booths,” adds Sudheeksha Golla, a 3rd year Electronics and Communication Engineering student.
