51 differently-abled couples to tie nuptial knot in Mumbai

The couples belong to different states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: Fifty one underprivileged differently-abled couples will tie nuptial knot at a mass marriage function in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh on January 21 and 22.

The couples belonging to different states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and different religions will be blessed by donors at the mass marriage ceremony on January 21 and 22, Devendra Choubisa, the trustee of Udaipur-based NGO Narayan Seva Sansthan which will host the event, said.

"Our charitable organisation has been involved in treatment and rehabilitation of poor people with disabilities, including those who are suffering from polio. "Marriage is one aspect of their rehabilitation to bring them into the mainstream of the society," he said at a presser.

The NGO has so far organised 27 mass wedding events, including two in Delhi wherein about 12,000 differently-abled people had entered wedlock, he said.
