Students set smart resolutions

Now that New Year parties are done and dusted, college students from across the city share their goals for 2018.

The New Year is a great time to reflect on the changes we want to make in our lives. No New Year is ever complete without resolutions! College students in the city are done with their parties and celebrations, and are now gearing up to make their year more productive and happening. From taking up professional courses and part time jobs to getting a makeover done and writing a journal, the new year seems to have infused city youngsters with verve and determination.

Redrouthu Bhargav Sai, Fourth year Mechanical Engineering student, Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST)

I am planning to start a business as I am in the final year. I want to get some work experience first and then plan for my future this year. My ultimate goal is to join a well-known thermodynamics company. I am not interested in pursuing a master’s degree as I always believe that on-field experience is more important. My resolutions this year are all to do with my career as this is a crucial point of my life.

Sharon Raj Leo, Intermediate second year student, Civics Economics Commerce (CEC), Loyola Academy Junior College

I want to change my look completely. I want to get a new haircut and also start working out. Career wise, I haven’t thought of much because right now I just want to give my best in my academics. But by the end of the year, I will plan something for my career too.

Ayesha Farheen, second year MSc nutrition student, Shadan Degree & PG College

I plan to help people by drawing up diet plans for them, starting with my mother, who is unwell and other close family members and friends. Now that I have studied so much, I want to put my knowledge into practice. I also want to design clothes as I am interested in fashion designing too. A car driving class and vegetable carving class are also on the cards.

Sai Bhanu, first year Fashion Design student, Hamstech Institute of Fashion & Interior Design

I made many interesting resolutions this year. I am going to first start designing my own clothes and then start a fashion blog. I am increasing my knowledge about fashion and taking my career more seriously. I have not been really confident of resolutions in the past years, so I want to make it work this time. Personally, I want to start writing my journal too.

Anirudh Ayyagari, second year BSC Statistics and Computer Science student, St Mary’s Degree College

I want to win a medal in National-level swimming as I am a professional swimmer. Apart from academics, I want to take my sports and music career to the next level this year.

Sneha Verghese, PhD Journalism student, Osmania University

I hope to complete my thesis this year. Most importantly, I want to concentrate on taking up more freelance projects — I am an illustrator and writer. I recently made some cartoons and caricatures for an NGO that helps women and want to take up more projects along those lines.
