Andhra Pradesh plans world-class projects to promote tourism

APTDC chief explains details of London meet on tourism

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh aims to implement some world-class projects to promote tourism in a big way, APTDC chairman Varaprasad Reddy stated this here on Friday.

He has just returned from an expo held under the aegis of International Association of Attractions and Amusement Parks in London from Sept. 12 to 15. It had participation of over 500 manufacturers, designers and operators of amusement parks, theme parks, water parks and family entertainment centres.

Speaking to the media, the chairman said he attended the event on advice from chief minister Jagan Reddy to enable him gain a first-hand knowledge, as also interact with the industry leaders and invite them to AP.

He met over 500 exhibitors, manufacturers and designers in addition to attending lectures and seminars and held detailed discussions with major players in sectors like theme parks, water parks, amusement parks and family entertainment centres.

The chairman said he explained to the industry experts about the wide range of opportunities available in AP for investment in the tourism sector, the incentives and support available from the new tourism policy, the availability of land banks for tourism projects, details of the long sea cost, the scenic and naturally beautiful locations and religious and historical locations and the vision of AP CM.

They were invited to participate in the development of AP, he said.

The chairman said that discussions were held in different models of cooperation dealing with direct investment by the foreign companies, investment through joint-ventures and consortiums, support through technology transfer and supply of equipment, arranging of cheaper international finance, suppliers’ credit for projects and training of manpower by international tourism experts through skill development programmes.

As many as 11 major companies were invited to develop tourism in AP, he said, and added that there was overwhelming response from the international players to set up world-class projects in the state.
