Resumption of the inter-state transport in the hill border favouring the tourist influx, it is a fact that the puja holidays turned out be extra special for travel and tourism industry now as the hills here have been witnessing vibrant tourist movement since Friday evening.

Govt Botanical Garden (GBG), the Govt., Rose Garden, the Boat House, Pykara Boat House and the Doddabetta peak, the tourists are bee lining to these prominent tourist spots in the hills for the past four days that is of course keeping the tourism stake holders as well as the hills busy.

After the popular summer season, the hills here have witnessed the hectic activity only now as the extended Puja weekend paved the perfect foundation for tourism to take the centrestage again in the hills.

Confirming that the puja holidays have come as a gift to the tourism stake holders in the hills,.Nithin Chandrasekar, president of the Nilgiri’s Travel Agents Association, said that for the past four days the hotels are reporting full house and there has been good demand for sight-seeing trips. He hoped that this rise in autumn tourism trend would go on till Deepavali week.

N. Mani, the Joint Director of Horticulture, said that the inflow of tourists to the GBG, the premier tourist attraction here, have been particularly high since Saturday and around little over 75,800 tourists visited the GBG over the past four days, he added.
