Saudi Arabia's luxury beach resort will soon permit women to wear bikinis

The resort will reportedly span over 50 islands.

Special laws at a luxury beach resort will now allow women in Saudi Arabia to wear bikinis.

The country's Prince Mohammed made the announcement of the project, the Telegraph reported.

The report described the plans as a "luxury resort destination" which will span over 50 natural islands.

In Saudia Arabia, women are not allowed to drive and have to have the consent of male relative to travel.

They are also required to cover their skin and hair when out in public.

At the beach, women normally have to wear an abaya, a long dress.

The government however said this new resort will be “governed by laws on par with international standards”, the report stated.

Construction will commence in 2019 and the expected date of completion is set to be by 2022.
