Rescued owl hatchlings recovering: Vets

The white barn owl hatchlings that were dubbed aliens in a viral video clip were rescued by forest department officials.

Visakhapatnam: The white barn owl hatchlings that were dubbed aliens in a viral video clip were rescued by forest department officials here on Tuesday.
The birds have been handed over to the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park and are under the care of the veterinarian there.

One of the owls is in critical condition as they have eaten for three days. “The owls are some days old so the feathers are yet to grow. One of them has become weak and is in a critical condition. As they are very prone to shock or stress, we have given them some privacy. The other owl is attempting to peck at hands so there is a good chance of recovery,” said a zoo official.

When contacted, Visakhapatnam Divisional Forest Officer Alan Chong Teron said the birds were rescued from One Town area and handed over to the zoo. The wild birds rescued cannot be domesticated without permission. The wild birds rescued cannot be domesticated without permission.
