Leopard cub rescued in Karimnagar

Forest officials from Warangal struggled for four hours.

KARIMNAGAR: A leopard cub was accidentally fell into an agricultural well on the outskirts of Venkatraopalli village in Illanthakunta mandal on Tuesday.

However, it was rescued by forest official after struggling for around 4 hours.
Forest officials said that that the big cat about 2- years-old was slipped into the well when it was searching for water and food.

A special rescue team saved the leopard by injecting an anaesthetic using a gun. The animal is undergoing treatment. It will be shifted to a zoo in Hyderabad, stated the officials.

Upon being informed by local residents, the forest officials rushed to the spot and tried to rescue it but in vain. Then, they deployed the special rescue team of Warangal to bring the leopard. A massive crane was used to rescue leopard cub.

“The well is located near poultry farms. Some dead birds are always dumped in the well. Similarly, the wild animal might have been trying for quenching her thirst as lakes and streams were dried up due to soaring heat wave conditions,” stated an official who was involved in rescue operations.
