New therapy raises hope of brain tumour cure

SPMF therapy is based on MRI technology and has shown definitive results and offered hope to thousands of patients.

Bengaluru: The use of sequentially programmed magnetic field (SPMF) therapy for brain tumour cases is gaining ground, as it is free from side effects of chemotherapy, and Bangalore based SBF Healthcare and Research Centre (SHRC) has bagged a couple of patents and international certification in this regard.

“I was already in Stage 3 brain tumour, when I heard about SPMF and approached Dr Vasishta. The tumour was in my right brain, as a result of which the whole left side of my body got paralysed. Everyone suggested chemotherapy, but I was reluctant due to its side effects. This is the main reason I opted for SPMF and I am happy that I am completely cured and leading a normal life," said Vani Arabinda Joshi speaking at a press conference here.

SHRC on Thursday announced that they have received US, Singapore and Russian patents, European CE certifications after treating 300 cases of Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), a type of brain tumour, using SPMF treatment.

This new therapy is based on MRI technology and has shown definitive results and offered hope to thousands of patients across the world. SPMF therapy is performed for one hour every day for 28 consecutive days.

The patient is evaluated using MRI and the Karnofsky Performance Score (KPS) which are gold standards for evaluating the efficacy of a therapy.

Patients can go about their normal activity during the treatment. It halts the progression of the disease and improves the quality of life and survival period. It also improves the patient’s emotional and psychological well-being.

SBF founder and CEO Wing Commander (Dr) V.G. Vasishta said, "SPMF therapy that we have pioneered here has not only offered a ray of hope to brain tumor patients, but has also been recognized worldwide, as proven by the numerous patents and certificates we have received. The results of the therapy have been published in many international peer reviewed scientific journals. It is a historical movement for India as this therapy is our export to the western world in the treatment of certain forms of cancer. SPMF therapy will be a game changer for brain cancer treatment across the world."
