Government Model School, Thycaud alumni reaches out cancer patients

Thycaud school's 1991 batch starts initiative to provide free food monthly

Thiruvananthapuram: Alumni of Government Model School, Thycaud, who completed SSLC in 1991, has launched a project for providing free food for cancer patients and persons with kidney disorders. They distributed a kit containing essential commodities to those admitted to Seva Kendram, a shelter for such patients here, the other day.

As part of the scheme, Memories 1991, the alumni, would provide such kits every month which would include various provisions needed for them.
Abhiram Krishnan, one of the organisers of the alumni meet, said it was not a new project. “One of our teachers at the school was providing kits to the patients, and we took it over,” he told DC.

“Manoharan, the teacher who initiated the project, guided us on the project.” It stemmed from the realisation that many patients from the economically weaker sections were finding it difficult to sustain themselves with their income. The alumni were also planning to extend the scheme to patients living in their houses also. V. S. Sivakumar MLA inaugurated the project. Seva Kendram president Vakkom Shajahan was also present.
