Pole dancing grandma is giving us some serious fitness goals

Lyn Dellavedova says it has improved her body confidence.

They say age is just a number. If you didn't believe it before, you certainly will now after hearing what this great-grandma does to stay fit.

63-year-old Lyn Dellavedova from Victoria, Australia has been pole dancing for almost seven years. Did we mention she is 63?

That's right. Pole dancing is not for the faint hearted. It takes hard work to get your body in excellent shape. Dellavedova had no prior experience in gymnastics or dancing when she decided to take up a class in 2010, the Metro reported.

When the Australian went for her first class, she felt self-conscious because the girls there were so much younger than her. But after the teacher gave her a warm welcome she started to feel comfortable and enjoy it. Now, seven years Lyn can hang upside down on a pole effortlessly and do some fancy tricks. She even participates in burlesque showcases.

Originally, Lyn took up pole dancing to do something memorable on her 60th birthday for her family and friends. She performed amazed guests with a solo routine.

"Being able to do moves that girls three times younger than me can do makes me feel so good," Lyn is quoted as saying by the Metro. The great-grandma said while she has never been a sporty person, she has never felt fitter and plans to perform again for her 70th.

She encourages more women to try out the class she credits to having better body confidence. "Pole dancing welcomes all shapes and sizes, it doesn’t discriminate," said the ever inspiring Dellavedova.
