Hyderabad: Fusion Yoga and Euphonic Yoga, based on Indian classical music, seems to be the flavour of the season with a lot of youngsters and music lovers opting for it.

Fusion Yoga, a combination of yoga and pilates, is basically for strengthening the body’s core muscles – back and abdomen. In fusion, the emphasis is on resistance exercises followed by controlled stretching.

“Here the stress is on maintaining a proper body balance to attain a specific posture while placing emphasis on correct breathing and meditation. A lot of youngsters are opting for it as it helps them strengthen the core muscles of their body, which is very important for fitness,” V.K. Punjabi, who is practising it, said.

Similarly, there is a new stream of Euphonic Yoga started by Shruti Chaturlal.
“We started these yoga sessions in corporate offices as stress busters. Some 40 per cent of people leaving the organisation cited stress as reason. In order to de-stress, a combination of Indian classical music and yoga was introduced. The seven swars of music are directly linked to the chakras of our body,” she said.
