Arabian food, new rage in Vijayawada

Exclusive Arabian restaurants open in city.

Vijayawada: Vijayawada people seem to have developed to a new taste of cuisine. Arabian food seems to be the new rage in Vijayawada. Locals are raving for Arabian delicacies over the local cuisine. While there are a few exclusive Arabian restaurants opened in the city in the recent times, Shawarma centres can be seen in every corner of the city. Dajaj fahm mandi, Arabian style grilled fish, hummus dip, pita bread, Turkish grill are the new varieties that Vijayawada people are savouring these days.

While these Arabian delicacies were only confined to Hyderabad in the past, exclusive restaurants serving Arabian delicacies had sprung up recently in Vijayawada, after the state bifurcation. “These Arabian delicacies are less in spice more on dry fruits and other ingredients. Since it is less spicy than the regular food or biryani, locals seem to have found it tasty. Locals are enjoying the cuisine. Sometimes we are unable to serve the customers due to excessive demand. Especially, chicken biryani handi is most popular among Vijayawada people. We are very soon opening another outlet,” Nagarjuna Gannamani, who runs Barkaas, an exclusive Arabian restaurant on Tikle road told Deccan Chronicle.

Nagarjuna added that they add little spice to the Arabian cuisine to tickle the taste buds of spice loving Vijayawada people. Chefs at Barkaas are trained by Indian chefs who worked in the Middle East over 30 years and have expertise in preparing Arabian cuisine. “First Arabic restaurant in Vijayawada as per my knowledge, tasty food and lovely ambience. Must try at that place,” said Nithin Koneru, who has tasted Arabian cuisine at Barkaas. There is another Arabian cuisine offering restaurant Arabian Knights opened in Gayatri Nagar recently.
