The reach of the insidious Novel Coronavirus has taken the spark out of every celebration, be it weddings or traditional festivities.

The all-pervasive fear even prompted celebrations that are part and parcel of our culture to be indefinitely postponed.

In this context, the tasteful, safe yet thoroughly enjoyable do that two young girls organized for their older sister comes as a breath of fresh air!

Ramya and Ravina pulled out all the stops to make it a memorable day when food Czarina Shweta Ravi of the Adyar Ananda Bhavan Group turned 29 recently.

From specially-designed invitations on artisanal paper and gold embossed emblems on placemats, every detail of the celebration hosted at the Marriott in Bengaluru was attended to with care. And it was just what Shweta needed!

From spray bottles of sanitizers sporting her caricature to sets of cutlery and crockery sanitized and individually packed in specially-designed boxes, the young girls made sure that safety standards were more than met.

And flowers sourced from top florists in the country and eco-friendly balloons in Shweta's favourite colours lifted the mood of the guests.

"As a group, we value our employees and their families the most. It's been a hard few months, with us supporting the entire retinue of staff without any revenue. We have been very concerned and at the same time committed to ensuring that our staff don't suffer at all during this lockdown. So it was very sweet of my family to plan this surprise that saw us driving to Bengaluru to celebrate my 29th," smiles Shweta.

Hiring the whole spot and customising it wouldn't have been easy, especially during quarantine. Shweta says, "I realized how efficient and effective my sisters were in planning this. There was such a strict safety protocol in place - all guests had their temperature checked and all hygiene parameters were strictly adhered to. Even the air was misted with sanitizer periodically so no one was put at risk. And every one of us quarantined ourselves for a week or more post the party."

While the Corona pandemic has wrecked havoc with it's tentacles curtailing every human celebration, birthdays and weddings too have suffered a beating. Many celebrations that are part and parcel of our Indian customs too were pushed indefinitely because of limitations and fear.

However, when food czarina Shweta Ravi of the Adyar Ananda Bhavan group turned 29, her younger sister planned a celebration that was unparalleled.

From invitations specially designed with artisenal paper and gold embossed waxed embelems on placemats, this do hosted at the Marriott in Bengaluru was just what Shweta needed.

With eco friendly balloons in Shweta's favourite colours to sanitizer spray bottles with her caricatured drawing to cuttlery and crockery sanitized and packed in specially designed boxes the 15-year-old sister went all out.
