Mard in the metro!

City-based style entrepreneur, Jatin Jayy lists down an easy to follow summer edit for the metropolitan Indian man on the go.

Today, the quintessentially stylish man is embracing colour like never before. From formal to casual styles, ubiquitous shades of tan and black have been conspicuously peppered with flashes of cobalt, canary yellow and neon orange.

That, while rich oxblood and burgundy add further depth and substance to the mix. But this is also the season to tweak your fashion sense and make room for colours that are atypical, keeping the choice of colours this season.

Shades of Grey: While it’s common fashion wisdom that summer calls for bright and peppy hues, there is also a subdued palette that is garnering all the attention this season. Yes, grey is making a comeback. Usually the warmer months invite an explosion of colour on the fashion circle – but for spring/summer 2016, designers seemed to unanimously decide on a more subdued palette, with grey topping the list as the most widely-seen hue. Sure, it’s a colour that all men have in their wardrobe already, but this season it’s all about how you wear it: varying shades and patterns of grey should be worn all at once to create a look that’s big on texture. A grey checkered suit is a combination of classy and casual. Worn with a casual white tee makes it perfect for a sunny day.

Getting smarter by the day: Learning to ace the ‘smart-casual’ combination right will set you free from a host of wardrobe woes, such as looking out of place or being either under or overdressed. It’s considered smart enough to be appropriate in a relatively formal situation yet stylish enough to make you look great down the pub. For instance, a blue suit worn here with a printed shirt lightens up your work outfit. Or a polka dotted shirt with a simple striped tie and formal trousers surely makes you the man of the hour at any meeting you go to. Because, in the end, it’s all about working smart and dressing smarter!
