Priyanka Chopra: Bold and Beautiful

From mauve and red to oxblood, loud lip colours are all the rage in the market today.

Loud lips are a fad that’s seeing an upswing like none other. But while you’re at it, did you know a few expertly tips are all you needed to slay the look? Beauty experts let us in on some insiders tips to get it right every time you intend to be a loud mouth (pun unintended)!

“Shades of purple like violet, mauve, royal purple and deep reds like oxblood and blood red are trending on the global runways as well as on the Indian fashion scene. But again, emulating a look right from the ramp can spell disaster if not done keeping the colour of your undertone in mind. For those who haven’t been adept with makeup trends, it’s the safest to go for matte while choosing deeper and darker hues. Keep away from glosses as much as you can, or just dab onto the centre of your lips, if need be. This works well for Indian women with warmer undertones. Also, while wearing red, steer clear of florescent reds! It’s always better to go for a mix of browish red over the pinkish red if you have wheatish to dusky skin tone,” states Sara M Anand, a city based makeup expert.

But, many a time, while you may have been lucky enough to get hold of the right shade, Charumathi GR, a celebrity makeup artiste asserts how turning a blind eye towards other underlying factors can spell disaster.

“Actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and the like have been extremely experimental with their pouts. But if you observe, most of them have been able to make a striking statement because they’re paid equal heed to other visages too. While sporting deeper hues, it’s important to make note that the lip liner you use is one shade darker than the base of your lips. Never go dramatic with the blush while sporting darker lip colours. Also, if at all you want your lips to do the talking, ensure you do away with the kajal completely. A swipe of mascara is all you need to complete the look,” she says.
