Google marks stethoscope inventor René Laennec's 235th birthday

René Laennec the father of clinical auscultation'.

Google doodle marks the 235th birthday of René Laennec with its doodle. Rene Laennec was a French physician, who invented stethoscope.

The doodle shows Laennec in black and white holding his invention to his ear and a doctor next to him holding the modern version of the stethoscope. The letter ‘O’ shows a pair of human lungs.

Born on 17th February in 1781, Laennec invented this medical gadget in 1816.

He is considered as ‘the father of clinical auscultation’. Apart from this invention, he has also made other contributions like understanding of peritonitis and cirrhosis.

He also coined the term melanoma and was the first person to give a lecture on melanoma in 1804.

He died at the age of 45, 1821 due to tuberculosis.
