Book of destiny

For Gayatri Nair, her debut novel As the Breeze Whistled Past is a dream come true.

Gayatri Nair’s life was that of a monotonous electrical engineer until As the Breeze Whistled Past happened. The novel, which is a journey of love, life and destiny, is a story told through the eyes of Nandini, a woman who attends the jubilee celebrations of her school hoping to meet James and the twists and turns that follow them.

Gayatri is very ecstatic about the release of her first novel, which, according to her, would not have been possible without the support of her daughter Arathy Nair. “For years, I have dreamt of writing and with the support and love from my daughter, I have finally realised my dream.”

Gayatri, who has been a chief engineer at the Kerala State Electricity Board, has earlier written articles in technical journals. Though she had always wanted to write a full-length novel, her circumstances were not favourable for her to indulge in her passion.

Now, basking in the success of her self-publication venture, Gayatri is all hopeful. “I will write more and I am very excited about my next. I will work very hard to bring out my upcoming novel,” she says.
