Fort of Utsavam

The ninth edition of the traditional art form festival will feature 17 performances at Fort Kochi.

If you are a culture lover, get ready to witness some of Kerala’s traditional art forms in Kochi. The ninth edition of Utsavam, a cultural fiesta, is going on at various venues in Fort Kochi. More than 3,500 artistes are travelling around the state to perform Kerala’s authentic art forms among the mass and to make people aware of the forms. Around 17 such performances would take place in Fort Kochi in the coming days.

The event began on Thursday with the Mudiyettu performance by Keezhillam Unnikrishnan followed by Charadu Pinnikali by Surendran Gurukripa. Kalamezhuthum Pattum, Karakanritham and Mayilattom were the highlights of Friday.

Kolkali and Thacherikali by Karunan Gurukkal and Poorakkali by Krishna Kumar are the two events scheduled for Saturday. There will also be a Mangalamkali Mulam chenda performance and Kanyarkali performance. Krishnankutty Menon and Ranjini will respectively perform Udukkupattu and Nokkupavakkali on Monday.

P.K. Panickar’s Theyyam and Malayankettu and Sreenivasan’s Pakkanarattam will enthrall the audience on Tuesday.

The event will conclude with the Thiruvathirakali performance by Radhamani and group and Nadan Vadyam by Janardhanan Puthussery.
