Andhra Pradesh youth on a mission to showcase Lepakshi

Social media platforms to be used to reach out to people.

Anantapur: Kutastha, a Sanskrit word that means consciousness, is the name of a project whose mission is to reach lakhs of people and share with them the story of the historic Lepakshi the five century old place with its glorious history of art and culture that was the guiding light for fashion designers, painters and sculptors of the ancient era. The beauty of Lepakshi has inspired generations but because of the lack of information about it, its history and understanding of the arts have not reached the common man.

Kutastha Project is the brainchild of Rajendra Vinod, a short film maker and winner of many national and international awards for multi language films on Lepakshi. “There is so much to learn about the Lepakshi but our visitors are unable to grasp anything due to a lack of proper subject knowledge available,” Mr Vinod said and added that the project was launched with the collaboration of BITS Engineering College, Hindupur to foster better understanding of culture, social and historical events and places.

The Kutastha team hired architectural photographers from Bengaluru and spent much time on the shooting of Lepakshi for the past few months. “The photographs would highlight ancient skills that will be useful for modern art. Each and every simple sculpture had a story behind it. We sought information from various sources including old books and the internet to prepare stories on every subject. In the future, our teams will move into different places in Rayalaseema. With photographs, the project will bring out even the minutest details of Lepakshi in a series of posts, using various platforms like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram. Our idea is to reach at least 10 lakh pople through social media,” added Mr Vinod.
