Hyderabad: Two persons drowned, while four others went missing after a boat capsized in a reservoir in Visakhapatnam district on the Andhra Pradesh-Orissa border, police said on Friday.
The boat carrying 13 persons capsized in Jalaput reservoir, (which is the boundary between Andhra Pradesh and Orissa) last evening, a senior police officer said over phone.
"The incident happened last evening, but was reported this morning to the police. We have information that 13 persons were travelling on the boat when it capsized. After a rescue operation two bodies were fished out today from the reservoir, while four others are still missing," he said.
Three persons managed to swim to safety, while four others were rescued by a local swimmer, the officer, adding the reason for the mishap was still not known.
The rescue operation has been stopped due to darkness and will resume on Saturday morning, he said.
