Prez to spend birthday with children

New Delhi: The President, Ms Pratibha Patil, who will turn 75 on Saturday, will spend most of the day with children while celebrating her third birthday as the first citizen of the country.

Rashtrapati Bhavan officials said while various dignitaries like the vice president, Mr Hamid Ansari, the Lok Sabha speaker, Ms Meira Kumar, among others are expected to come and wish her, the President is looking forward to attending a cultural programme by differently-abled children organised by an NGO.

Ms Patil would also be meeting about 400 children from various NGOs and other organisations at the sprawling Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Blankets would also be distributed to cancer patients at various hospitals besides some NGOs, officials said.
