Police raids Asaram Ashram, 150 detained
Ahmedabad: Police on Friday raided Asaram Ashram at Motera here and detained about 150 followers after Thursday's clash by the followers of the Asaram with the police in
Gandhinagar.
Asaram followers had on Thursday clashed with police and injured 20 policemen including the
Gandhiangar superintendent of police after the police had stopped their rally from entering the premises of district collector.
About 200 policemen on Friday raided the ashram to find out the culprits of Thursday's attack on the police.
"We have detained around 150 persons from the Asaram Ashram in Motera during a search
operation," the Gandhinagar superintendent of police, Mr Piyush Patel, said.
He said that appropriate action would be taken against those involved in the attack on police officials on Thursday.
Mr Patel further said no weapons or suspicious items were found from the ashram premises.
According to the police, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Ahmedabad and
Gandhinagar police.
The incident occurred on Thursday when hundreds of followers of Asaram were prevented from entering the Gandhinagar collector's office in Gandhinagar where they wanted to submit a memorandum.

Why did the policemen use lathis and beat the sadhakas from the Ashram when they were ready to to as the vdeo shows. Was there any need to use force if these people were not fighting back? Isn't it a violation of human rights? Someone come up and register a complaint against them.
Who the hell gave them right to destroy ashram property. Why was the ashram authority not informed on the spot? Whom did they show the search warrant? Police has no right to enter any private or public premises this way. Why did police officers not show similar guts with other religion- religious places??
