Landmine blast in J&K hurt 5 BSF jawans

Samba, Dec.26: Five troopers of the Border Security Force (BSF) were injured in a landmine blast in the Mangu Chak sector of Samba in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident reportedly took place in the Samba sector when the BSF troopers were patrolling and inspecting Magu Chak post in the morning.

At around 9am, a landmine exploded injuring five BSF troopers at Manguchak sector, nearly 65-km southwest of Jammu. Three BSF personnel were seriously injured

The team was trying to verify details of a reported infiltration bid from Pakistan.

Currently the injured are being treated at the Government Medical College in Jammu and the other two are undergoing treatment at Samba hospital.

Officials say incidents of infiltration by Pakistani militants have risen over the past few months.

According to official reports, nearly 433 infiltration attempts were reported this year, compared to 342 in 2008.
