Ahmedabad: Authorities of the Gujarat High Court would be filing a criminal complaint against an unknown person after video clippings of proceedings going on in one of the courts were uploaded on the video sharing site YouTube.

"We have initiated process to file a complaint against the person who had shot the video and are going to file a criminal complaint against him," registrar general of Gujarat HC, Mr P.P. Bhatt, said.

"We would also be putting up notices every where in the HC campus asking people not to indulge in such activities which are against the law," he said.

Mr Bhatt said that they have taken a serious note of the incident and are going to take strict action against the accused.

Since photography or videography on court premises is strictly prohibited, the act represents a grave security breach, he said.

The video clips have been uploaded on video-sharing site YouTube in three parts. The clips were shot in the courtroom of Justice Z.K. Saiyad.

One of the clips clearly shows the lawyer making arguments and the judge listening to it from the dais, Mr Bhatt said.

"Video recording in court premises represents a grave security breach"
At the High Court everywhere is a sign or notice for "NO SMOKING" and "SWITCH OFF THE PHONE" but nowhere does it mentions that photography and videography is prohibited in the premises. No security official mentioned it to me. So how come I am accused? Yes I did make a mistake but not a crime. I would like to show that in the High Court also human rights are denied. I just used my right to expression what I feel is not right. If an institution like the High Court feels it's a crime then its not good. Instead of finding the truth, they took this as an offensive. And media highlighted it as breach of security of court.
