8 killed in Kabul blast

A suicide attack near a foreign guest house in the Afghan capital Kabul today killed eight people, including four women, and wounded another 40, interior ministry officials said.

"Eight people have been killed. Four are women. Four others are male and 40 other people have been wounded. It was a suicide bombing," said interior ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashary.

Another government official confirmed the same death toll.

"There was an explosion in Wazir Akbar Khan near a foreign guest house, which was also close to my former first vice president's house. Two of his bodyguards have been martyred," President Hamid Karzai said.
