ADILABAD, Feb. 7: People are not coming forward to help surrendered Naxalites. As many as 20 Naxalites, including 13 women out of a total of 49 surrendered Naxalites, are facing problems in getting bank loans for the last six years as they lack adequate surety with people not coming forward to give surety.
Some surrendered Naxalites are not in a position to pay the margin money to avail government schemes sanctioned for them and some others are facing problems in obtaining nativity certificates and ration cards from the revenue department as they had deserted their native places long ago and settled elsewhere.
Speaking to this correspondent, Talandi Motiram, former deputy commander of the Mangi dalam, said that he was running from pillar to post to get the sanctioned bank loan for a diesel autorickshaw but could not get any person to give personal surety.
Most of this former Naxalites are illiterate adivasis.
Superintendent of police P. Pramod Kumar set up a committee with police inspectors to ensure that surrendered Naxalites get government schemes to lead a normal life.
He also included the subject of the welfare of surrendered Naxalites for the first time in the weekly teleconference with police officers in the district.
