Hyderabad, Nov. 23: Family members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, are actively drumming up support for his proposed fast-unto-death programme through various activities.
He nephew, Mr T. Harish Rao, MLA, daughter, Ms Kavita, son, Mr K.T. Rama Rao, MLA, and other close relations are on the frontline.
Ms Kavita, who heads Telangana Jagruti, an organisation to promote Telangana culture, is mobilising students from Osmania University, AP Agricultural University and other institutions in and around Hyderabad. “I am doing my bit for the party,” says Ms Kavita, who led a rally in Osmania University and was arrested by police along with scores of students. She is yet to formally join politics.
Party sources said that KCR is likely to assign more work to his daughter in the days to come. Earlier, he had chosen to give the Assembly poll ticket to his son, Mr Rama Rao.
Ms Kavita’s organisation ran a series of cultural programmes on Telangana across the state and New Delhi. She had handled KCR’s election campaign in Mahbubnagar Lok Sabha elections successfully.
However, the TRS chief reportedly wants her to gain more experience in politics before being given a party post. KCR is also hesitating to give her post to avoid the stigma of the party becoming a family enterprise.
Mr Rama Rao is also trying to mobilise cadre in all the Telangana districts. An MLA from Sircilla Assembly constituency in Karimnagar, Mr Rama Rao, is media shy and does not speak much.
